When installing a mobile signal repeater ,there are two main factors to consider for RF cables : impoedance and type :
Impedane :
50 ohm :this is the industry standard for cellular repeater systems and offers slightly lower signal loss per cable length .it is the generally recommended choice .
75 ohm: you might encounter 75 ohm cables if your building is pre-wired for something like cable TV.while they can technically work ,they may experience higher signal loss compared to 50 ohm cables .
Cable type :
Here are the three most common types of RF cable used with mobile signal repeaters :
RG-6: this is a standard 50 ohm coaxial cable ,commonly used for cable TV. it is a good choice for shorter runs due to lower signal loss .
RG-11: this thicker 50 ohm cable offers even lower signal loss over longer distances but can be stiffer and strickier to install .
Amplitec-400: there are proprietary 50 ohm cables designed by specific manufacturers for their boosters . they provide the lowest signal loss but are often pricier and might be better suited for commercial applications .
Choosing the right cable :
Cable length : for shorter runs ( under 25 feet) with a good outside signal,RG6 is sufficient. for longer runs or weaker signals ,consider RG-11 or manufacturer-specifi options .
Pre-existing wiring : if your building already has 75 ohm cables ,they might work in a pinch ,but consult a professional for a potential signal loss concerns .
Remember ,for optimal performance ,always refer to the instructions that come with your specific mobile signal repeater for recommended cable types lengths .
